Being a trainee at B P Collins means the opportunity to get involved in all kinds of social and community events. We have a dedicated social committee who are responsible for putting on various events throughout the year.
Last year’s calendar highlights included a trip to Lords for 20/20 cricket, going to the Windsor races and a champagne night at Crazy Bear. As well as these firm-wide events, each department has a budget for group days out and the trainees have a social every quarter, plus there are always ad hoc events such as the very popular curry night organised by members of our IT team in November.
For the more active among us, last year we had a ten-strong team complete the Tough Mudder course in aid of the charity Mind, and a group of nine took on the Three Peaks Challenge with monies raised going to the charities supported by the firm through the Heart of Bucks charity stewardship.
The run up to Christmas is always a busy month for everyone and it was no different here. We started December by getting involved in the Gerrards Cross Festival of Lights. The trainees helped out by greeting and talking to some of the local business people and residents and we opened up our reception for attendees to enjoy our home-made mulled drinks and mince pies.
There was then a successful quiz night with fish and chips organised by another trainee, Lizzie Maxwell, who is part of the social committee. We also had our annual Christmas party held at the beautiful Heatherden Hall in Pinewood Studios, which had been transformed into a winter wonderland – complete with snow machine and an extremely popular photo booth. Two of the new trainees, who will be joining the firm over the next year, attended and it was a great chance for them to start getting to know everyone. And if all that wasn’t enough, there were practice group Christmas lunches and Secret Santas aplenty to get the whole firm feeling really festive!
The golden year
January is normally a much quieter month by comparison, however we are bucking the trend here as this year, B P Collins celebrates its 50th anniversary. In honour of this, the firm has launched the ‘Made to Last’ campaign, which aims to celebrate the firm’s past and look towards its future. It is inspired by the legacy created over the firm’s history through the hard work of current and former employees, and the strong relationships we have built with our clients, other professionals and the surrounding community. These aspects will be conceptualised across our literature and events in 2016 to enable us to share these experiences with clients and colleagues alike.
This means that it will be an exciting year here at B P Collins, with lots of events and activities for staff to get involved with. Some highlights already in the calendar include a celebration with our clients in the summer and a special staff party in September. Find out more about our Made to Last campaign here.
